Default Visitor Visa and flights Times allowed to stay

Hi guys,

If we were to come on the Visitors and get the 6 months permit, renewable for 3 months at a time, what about the flights? I have looked at Singapore Airlines and they let you book your return flight a year later. I am presuming NZ would not let us in with a return ticket for a year if you only get a permit for 6 months. Can you book the flight and extend the travel dates when you know you can extend your Visitor visa?

I do know how to confuse matters :icon_wink:

We are going to get forwarding tickets rather than return - to Australia. This obviously works out cheaper and suits us.

How about this for complicated. We will go out on the Visitor on 25 June. Hubby will have a forwarding ticket on 27th July to Melbourne (where he will meet someone) and a return ticket from Melbourne to London. On his return to Melbourne late September, we will use our forwarding tickets to go to Melbourne to meet him and have a few days break. Somewhere during this time we should get our PR.

Guess a chat with the travel agents should give an indication of how 'open' a ticket can be. I need to do that too.

Hi Glenda, thant sounds good but we are actually coming back to the UK for wedding July 2006, so it would be good just to book the return flight for then, so i can rest assured we can get home. My girls are bridesmaids so the bride, my cousin would kill me if we didn't get back. I've promised!

But thought NZ would have a problem with us entering the country with no intention of leaving until July 2006. If Ian got a job It wouldn't matter as we would get a work permit.

I would have thought that if a ticket is 'open' it would not necessarily say that you would be travelling back in July 2006 ... it could be anytime during those first six months. :icon_wink: :icon_wink: :icon_wink:

I'm getting off this PC and ringing the travel agents. I need to know too.

Hi Sarian. We're going with Singapore on a 3 month return and we can change the return dates at no extra cost and it is a year. Hope this helps. We've got two weddings in July 2006.

I was told a year too. Also that open tickets are a little more expensive than the usual return ... but couldn't get how much without being referred to 'the manager'. :icon_neutral:
