Default Working holiday visa US vs. UK 500 vs. 10000

Hey All,

I read on the NZ immigration website that the US is granted 500 WHVs, (10,000 for UK).

I was wondering if it's hard to get a WHV in the US, with so few available?

Thanks,

Jon

With only 500 available, I would imagine it is quite difficult! If you are thinking of going down that route, call immigration and ask how many places are left before applying. As it's only April, there may well be quite a few places left.

"US working holiday scheme places filled
Tuesday, April 05, 2005
The available places for the US working holiday scheme have been filled.
Places will be available again on 1 May 2005 for US citizens aged 18 to 30 wishing to come to New Zealand for a working holiday." NZIS website

As of May 1st, there will be another 500 places? Meaning I'll be able to get one and leave in Sept.?

Why are there so few US visas? And why don't they fill faster? (if it took until April to fill, then they reset as of May 1st)

Thanks for the help, there's still a lot i don't know yet on this

Jon

Visa numbers and agreements are usually recipricol, so you will probably find that the USA only allows 500 kiwis in every year.
