Default Covering letter for ITA

Just a simple query...
I was just thinking about the covering letter that is required for the ITA, what sort of thing are the NZIS looking for in the letter? how long do you think it needs to be? I assume I am just writng that I would like to apply foe residency because.........stating what I have to offer to make a valueble contribution to NZ etc etc.....does this sounda bout right?

I keep thinking of things that can go wrong with my application...convincing myself I am so close to my dream but yet so far!!! has anyone else felt this way???

Default Covering letter for ITA

Hi Laura,

I haven't heard of anyone having to write a covering letter to go with their ITA before.... :icon_confused:

Have they specifically requested this?

Someone who has already submitted their ITA may be able to help you with this...... any takers??

Hi,

Yes, they ask you to include a covering letter but I would keep it brief and to the point. Include a list of contents and take the opportunity to explain any 'unique situations' you may have eg: if you do want to move ASAP and are happy to be put to the bottom of the pile :icon_biggrin:

Default Covering letter for ITA

I sent in a 2 page letter but half of one page was a list of the documents enclosed with my ITA. I figured that, if I could pre-empt the questions intended for the interview, it would maybe give me a head start. The letter seemed to work because my phone interview was fairly short and my case officer only asked about 4 or 5 questions. I thought I would be extremely nervous for the phone interview and may forget to emphasise certain points. The letter provided the background to my case and my reasons for wanting to go, and what research I'd carried out. It's not done me any harm so far!

Good Luck

Hi,
One thing I would suggest. Staple all the sheets together, so it stays at the front. I did about 6 pages, 2x with the contents, the rest supporting info. But the supporting info got pushed to the back.
To be honest I'm not sure how useful it was anyway.

It's probably better to make sure you know how to answer the interview questions. And without needing notes.

Steve

PS I just got PR :icon_cool:

Default Covering letter for ITA

Hi,
Just to check, how many of you dont have a job offer?

I'm just wondering if the covering letter thing is for people without, or if it applies to everyone?

Hi Taffy,
I think you need a cover letter whether you have a job offer or not.

Include:
EOI ref number
Name
What you are applying for !

I then copied the suggested order for the contents, but added whether it was the original with copy or just certified copy.

Then I added any additional info.

Without a job offer I suggest:
1. Info on research you've done
2. Your plan
3. Employment prospects
4. Your support network
5. Financial plan

With a job offer, presumably anything you want to say about the job offer.

None of this is probably 'necessary', but my view was, if I don't get PR because I didn't prove my case well enough I'd kick myself all round the room. So, I went over the top !

The most important thing is probably to know the answers to the interview questions (for those without a job offer).

Cheers
Steve
