We would like to bring an aged relative However, NZ is not older-relative friendly.

You have to be a citizen before you can sponsor your aged relative to come to NZ, and I think at the moment that is 5 years. Your relative can visit you 6 months of the year on a normal visitors visa - suits some people as they can spend 6 months here in summer and 6 months in the UK.

Australia is older-relative friendly and your aged relative can be part of the application. However, I believe here there are some conditions in that there are no more siblings in the UK or the bulk of your close family already live in Australia.

Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I would really like to be.
