Bit depressed at the moment, looks like there is very few jobs around the canterbury region. Now the wife is set on Christchurch, I don't want to revert back to original wellington plans. There's like 350,000 people living there, what do they all work as?? Got to get a skilled job with 4 years marketing experience, need the job offer for 105 points.
I don't suppose anyones been there and looked for jobs and found it more encouraging than the outlook portrayed by the web etc.

If I were you, I would get onto whatever their equivalent of yellow pages is and start sending on spec applications. If it is the same as in England, only a fraction of jobs that are available are advertised and companies prefer to recruit people not via agencies as their fees are quite high.

I can help you with that one...

The NZ equivalent of Yellow pages is... Yellow Pages!

Cheers Taff/Moggy reckon I'll write me a flashy 'resume' then. It's gonna be so awkward getting them to employ a foreigner and write the NZIS some bumph about why they emplyed me instead of a kiwi.
Did your employer have to do this taff, or was it ok cos you were on the skill shortage list.

Yes, he did it for me. Not too bad really, there are only 2 questions about why they chose you over a kiwi...

What was wrong with the Kiwi applicants?

Why couldnt you just train a Kiwi?

Pain in the behind for them, but I guess unless you're completely wrong for the job, I would think NZIS have to respect the judgement and wishes of business owners to a certain degree!

Oh thats encouraging. So is it a form you get that you just have to ask the employer to fill it out. Did you download it or what?
Whats the form called and do you have to pay to submit it? Souds like I'll be doing what you did almost exactly, just in a different job field. Did you tell the employer what you needed him to do before the interview or what? Couldn't you just fill it in yourself and get them to sign it?

hehe too many questions me thinks. Any help tho would be ace.

From the top!

Yes, it's a form.

All forms are downloadable from the immigration website.

It gets submitted with your work permit application, and is called an employer supplementary form.

I did explain there was a simple form to fill out, to satisfy immigration that I wasnt making the job up!

Filling it out and getting them to sign it... hmm... work permit & employer supplementary form in the same handwriting? tut tut

I think that nailed them all?!
