Hold on ... I thought UK videos and dvds would only work in NZ if played on a UK player and UK tv? Have I really got it wrong?

I know each area of the world has different regions - are we region 2 and NZ region 4? I thought you can get multi-region players and tvs but this specification is not something most people thought about when they bought them.

    Confusing. :icon_confused:

Sorry, I completely missed the bit about DVD's!

UK Videos work in NZ players, thats for certain as we have a load of them! UK PS2 Games work in NZ PS2s (DVD Games) but I'm not sure about UK film DVD's as we didnt have any. You are right, NZ is region 4, so its probably debatable whether DVD's work here, although I will do some investigating!

If you bring your UK DVD player with you, then the DVDs will work in that no problem.
The other alternative is to use your DVD drive in your computer which is non regional, you can then hook that up to the TV if you are wanting to see it on a bigger screen, and if you are doing that, may as well hook it into you stereo to give you better sound as well.

I'll correct that one. Most all DVD players sold in NZ are region free, meaning that that they don't care where a DVD is from, they will play it.
Your DVD players in your computer is probably locked to a particular region. If you are feeling adventuress, you can download programs over the internet that will "unlock" you DVD drive in your computer.
So, bringing your DVD player will allow you to play all your current DVDs, but you should budjet for a new DVD player in NZ so you can have a player that will play DVDs from anywhere.
