Default applied for EOI but advised differently?

We applied for our EOI on the 17th March, and have been applying for jobs on line for Steve, he's a cabinet maker. The day after we applied for the EOI, we got 2 phone calls from companies in NZ that told us we did it wrong, they are that desperate for cabinet makers over there that we should just come over and they will arrange a work permit for Steve and get him working within 2 weeks! Can we do this? and what kind of visa would we have to apply for to get into NZ, a WHV? but Steve is 37 to old for that, or can we go over on a holiday visa and then apply for a work permit through the company he gets a job with? It all seems confusing, have been reading your messages to see if any were similar. :icon_frown:

Hi,
If thats the route you want to take, you can apply for a work permit from home, or go to NZ on visitors permits, and apply once there.

It doesnt take too long to process a work permit, but sometimes they ask for evidence of things that may take you an age to get hold of if you are already in NZ, such confirmations of work experience etc.

Your call!

::): thanks for that Taffy, how do I go about getting a visitors permit? how long do they last? 3months?. We have already been advised of what documents to take, so hopefully we will have all the information when we get there.

Well, it doesnt say where you are from, so if you are from UK, you just need to show up with your passport and you'll be granted a 6 month permit upon arrival in NZ.

If you are from the US, same applies only you will be granted a 3 month permit instead.
