clothes!! buy here or there?

can anyone help, we will be heading to auckland around june, shuold i go to our shops here and buy clothes for hubby me and our three girls? i dont want to get over and find that the clothes and shoes are really expensive or not much choice, as a woman id really appreciate any advice from those that went before me! im starting a job as a hairstylist when i get there and need to look my best! lisa m

I am heading to Auckland in June as well and this topic has crept up with myself and my girlfriend :icon_rolleyes: . I think we will take what we need to get by and get some stuff down there. I just hope they have some cheap shops as i do not have expensive tastes :icon_wink:

Hi,
There is plenty of variety of clothing, but not much that I would consider cheap. Places like K-Mart and The Warehouse sell reasonably priced stuff, but you are still looking at $15+ for the cheapest of clothes, although I will say 'cheap' clothing tends to be of a higher quality than the UK.

For the chaps among us, its also worth knowing that mens trousers (or pants if you prefer!) are sized in centimetres, not inches. So, for example, if you are a 32" waist, you'll now be an 82cm waist.

There are plenty of clothes outlets in and around Auckland. If its for expense then I would stay clear of Auckland itself which has some lovely boutique shops.

When I is was in Auckland (Dec 03) we went to a factory outlet shopping centre called DresSmart its in Onehunga which is just outside of Auckland and is quite easy to find.

This has come up before in our house!
Firstly, my wife found quite a bit at the mall in Onehunga, so I suppose thats worth a visit!
Although she has been making plans with her local NEXT rep to order things and have them sent out..... Unless anyone can tell me if NEXT has taken over NZ yet?

No unfortunately no Next yet.

If I remember rightly in Onehung you can buy some brand names. I bought some Nike tops and ripcurl skirt.

Then there are brand names that are only known to NZ but their clothes are just as good quality and just as nice fitting and not badly priced.

My partner bought some T shirts from a shop similar to Burtons and they had things on offer ie 2 T's for the price of 1 etc............. but that was in New Lynn which is about 15mins from Auckland.
