Default The waiting is killing me!!! Do I stand a chance?

Hello, my EOI was selected 02/03/05, I have 100pts. I am a Probation Officer and was previously a Housing Officer so lots of experience working with often difficult people!!!! I already have one degree and have nearly completed another......both relate to work I have done and currently do. I am not very good at waiting (who is these days), I want this so much......I am sure I completed the EOI correctly.....I am just a little worried coz I only have 100pts. I have already applied for a job in Auckland but due to the nature of my work the Dept of Corrections can not offer job without work permit, although they have asked me to complete all of the required application pack.....will this affect my chances? I think I am just having a major stress attack....worrying.....I just want this soooooo much.
Can anyone give me any reassurance....what exactly are NZIS looking at when verifying our EOI? Will the fact that I only have 100pts affect their decision? How quick are they responding to the EOI and sending out ITA's? Do New Zealand House check through EOI or is this all done in NZ?
I hope that some one can give me a littel reassurance or I will go bonkers. :030: I think I need a drink to calm down!!!.

Laura

It sounds as though your just what they're looking for so don't worry. Having 100 poits won't be a problem as you've already met their threashold.

Timescales not so sure - we were drawn on 1st September - but didn't receive ITA until end December. I believe things have speeded up since then.

But chill out - this is a waiting game - I think they like to give you time to think!

Thanks for that..I just think I got a little worried, as I said I am not very good at waiting!!!! My problem is that I really do want this so much...I have been thinking about this for about four years and have visited NZ twice, its such a lovely place and I want to grow old there.

Hope your application goes :icon_razz: well too.

If it's any consolation, we were selected on 8.2.05 with 115 points and we are still waiting to be assigned a case officer. Apparently our EOI is being dealt with by the Wellington branch and that's all I know.

We are getting paranoid aswell as I have to give my notice in at work in 9 weeks if I am to leave at the end of July to go to NZ at the beginning of Sept.....and the house is going on the market next week too!!!!

Let me know how you get on!

Hello there...
I have to say it is reassuring to know that I am not alone in feeling a bit paranoid.....its not nice waiting.
I understand that maybe I am just being a little anxious....can't help it though :022: How did you know that your EOI is being dealt with by the Wellington Branch?
I am not sure when to start thinking about police check etc.......
I have sent off my application form for a job in Auckland, but as stated previously, it is unlikely I will be shortlisted because the Dept of Corrections won't employ without required work visa.
If I don't get through the skilled migrant route....(which I really hope I do)...would I be able to get a work permit and re-apply once in NZ? I know I would find a job ok as NZ are always advertising for my job (I am sad as I check weekly). Am I too old for a work permit, I am 38yrs (young....ha..ha). My husband and daughter will be with me and we intend to live with my sister until settled in work. I would rather go through the skilled migrant route though.
Thanks for listeningand helping me

I had a letter from them to confirm selection and they told me about Wellington then. Just spoke to my brother who lives in NZ and his went to Sydney! His friends was done in NZ and came through first although he applied later. Swings and roundabouts I think!!!

Good luck any way!
