hi there, basically not to make this too long winded which could so easily happen, my ita went off last week but my case officer says i can only prove six years official work experience as a hairdresser, i have a job offer full time in busy aukland salon and have worked from home since 98. immigration officer....who seems really nice asked me to submit a letter from my salon services supplier by way of proof that ive been getting products for home business since 98 to date. do you think she may allow this to make up the points as i only had the bare 100 with what i thought was 8 years proveable experience!? oh lordy what a night mare, are the case officers very very tight or is ther a wee bit of leeway and discretion, all the rest of my application is in v good order and the fact that i have a firm job offer must look good???or is this the case? she said shed let me know soon, maybe a week, and i dont want to pester her by ringing. we have spent so much time money a thoughts on all this i dont want to fail on a hitch, do you think the fact i havent heard yet is a good sign, will it be by post or will she ring? we had a great offer on the house and its all hanging in the balance, has anyone else squeezed in on the fact the had a job offer but fell short on proveable experience? i would really really apprecite any help at this stage, i feel im goig a bit mad! im even having distorted dreams about visa etc and my husband and i are demented from beating the whole thing to death.........help lisa m

Hi there,

Don't panic :icon_biggrin: Have you got your tax returns for the business since 98 ? You could always get a print out from the IR.

The fact that she's suggesting confirmation from suppliers etc sounds like they're trying to help you through this.

Fingers crossed

Milliemoo :icon_wink:

Lisa,

Really don't panic - if your CO is asking for a simple letter to confirms some details, that means your application is being processed and has not been turned down. Remember they are desperate to get people through the system quickly to meet quotas set by the Govt, and they are way below what they need, so everyone stands a good chance.

CO's also have some discression - there is a part of the "Manual" where it actually states that a CO can approve residency even if the points go below 100 during the application.

No need to panic yet - you will get there, so have confidence!

Neil

thank you so much for your reply , it has reassured me to a great degree, its so stressful being in the not knowing group, have you had your residency confirmed yet. it just got me very worried when my co said that the minimum years experience was 8 years and that there was no leeway, mind you she did ask for the letter from my supplier so fingers crossed, will i get a phone call neil or will it be via mail! thanks again lisa.

Lisa,

No problems - we all go through the panic stage! I did several times, but yes, we got our PR about 5 weeks ago and we actually leave for Auckland on Friday !! :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

It varies on the contact front - some people seem to get it via email, we got a call from CO to book a good time for the Interview and then a call 2 days after to say we were successful.
