Default Restrictions during the application process?

my partner and I live in the US and are thinking about the skilled migrant application. We figure we'll try to migrate in 2006, so want to begin the EOI/ITA process in a timely fashion (probably october or nov 2005).

Meanwhile, we want to holiday in NZ this christmas (2005), and take the opportunity to interview and job hunt while we're there.

Are there rules about travelling to NZ as visitors if we're submitted an EOI or an ITA and are waiting on a response?

Any ideas?

That would depend entirely on the stage of your appliation... NZIS may well have your passports at the time, so you wont be going anywhere without them! That aside, there wouldnt be a problem with you visiting, although it may hold things up if they decide to request your passports whil you are away.

It'll only be a problem if you've been issued with your residency visas - if that's the case, when you vist NZ, you'll become residents - with the resulting tax liability etc.

Hmm. Good points on both counts.
We'll have to think about our timing, then.

Thanks for your help Taffy & HughJ!
