Default wanting to move next year

Hello everone!
Just logged on the site-
We are looking to move and set up a business south of Christchurch over the next couple of years.
We are both proffesional people but not manually skilled.

The plan is to invest in our own business in bed and breakfast and activities in the area.
We are both fit and active and very sporty aged 48/52.

Any body point us in the best route to get checking out for pointers!
thanks

Hi macfod,
Welcome to the forum!

Seems like your best option is the Long Term Business Visa. If you plan on taking over an existing business, this can be an easier process.

Requirements are:

You MUST have had business experience, either running your own, or at a senior management position.

You MUST have funds to support yourselves for up to 2 years (although NZIS do not specify the amount, $30,000 a year is a good basis). These funds must not include the costs of starting up your business, they must be seperate after all business expenses have been met.

If you have been involved in fraudulent activity, or have run a business that went bust then you will be declined.

LTBV is a difficult route to go by, but its the only way if you want to jump straight in to running a business.

I'm sure you have lots of questions, so dont be shy on posting them!

thanks for the quick reply.
we have no individual experince but I'm a Senior business manager for an electronics compnay.
We plan to invest in property and run a business from the property.

We will have income from a property we would let out in the UK!
It looks to be a long drawn out process and we are just beginning.

So, here we go..

Hi,
Thats a tricky one, as you need to have relevant experience in the business you wish to run. If you ran a property investment business, or had experience in property investment, that would be fine. NZIS want to know that if they grant you a visa to run a business, then you'll know how to run it.

Maybe another option for you would be to try and secure a job in Management, apply down the skilled migrant route, and then go in to business once you have been granted residency.

It's a much simpler, cheaper route to take, thats for sure!

macfod is on a distinguished road
Default thanks

my partner has stayed in NZ twice for about six months and toured the island.
She particularly likes the Dunedin area.
We would like to buy a property and run a adventure time business combined with guest house if viable.
At this stage its just early planning with a pre visit over new year possible. :icon_biggrin:
