Default this may be a dumb question...

Hi - been dipping into this site for a while now, and have finally managed to get hubby round to the idea of possibly moving out to NZ.

We've been into the NZIS site and put all our details into the EOI points calculator. Basically if hubby puts his details and experience in we don't get enough points to enter the pool (even though he's an IT specialist, and has extensive work experience in an area that seems to be an area of skills shortage) - but if we put me in as "lead" person, we do, due to my qualifications and work experience.

What I'm wondering though is IF we should at any point get on to the next level and finally get the go-ahead to move to New Zealand will I have to work there to enable us to be eligible?
Told you it was a dumb question, but I can't find a definite answer to this anywhere - thing is although I have the qualifications and work experience I am currently a full time mum to my little daughter who is only 5 months old, and I didn't really want to be working while she (and any other little ones we may have are still so young). here's hoping someone can give me the answer.

Cheers

Maggie

Hi Maggiemoo from Milliemoo ! :icon_razz:

I think I'm right in saying that this all depends on the outcome of your ITA. NZIS will not necessarly grant you PR with no job offer, however I'm not aware of anyone on this site who doesn't have a job offer not getting PR. If you are granted PR then it wouldn't matter which one of you works.

There is a chance that they could turn round and offer you a work permit, with which comes conditions that you have to work in the area you are trained in for a set amount of time.

If you don't have a job offer then NZIS will give you a telephone interview. This would be you if your name was the principle applicant. They might get sus unless you can convince them that your OH is going to be a stay at home dad.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but fairly sure this is the case.
