Default School Days

Hi all,

just trying to get myself organised now and thinking in advance, as usual. I was wondering if any of you could tell me what a typical school day is in NZ. I have a 6 year old, and she will be going to primary school in Auckland. I really need to know what time of the day school starts and finishes. This would help me to work out the shifts I could work at the hospital as I would like to spend plenty of time with my daughter. After all whats the point in moving to NZ if it's not to spend quality time with my family.

Thanx, Midder :icon_wink:

Hi Midder,
School times can vary depending on the school. Your best bet is to contact the school your child will be attending, and they will be able to tell you directly.

All the best

Thanks for your reply Taffy. I've been looking on a couple of school websites for one's I like the look of. It looks like most schools start around 9am and finish around 3pm. So pretty much the same as the UK. Just hope now that my shifts can be worked around this. All the same my employer has said that they try to accomodate shifts around family life. This is hugely different to the UK as they would rather you organise your family around work. Think this is going to be a huge culture shock! I'll need to get used to having nice, helpful employers :icon_confused:

Cheers
Midder

Not to mention your children will need to get used to a more laid back and less pressured school life with better resources. Hopefully they can cope :icon_lol:
