Default Have a Job but not much time!!

I submitted my EOI yesterday. I have 155 pts and a Job Offer as a Staff Midwife. I am hoping to be in Auckland by July, however reading some of the postings has made me think I'll never get there in time. Does anyone have any idea if I've made my timescale too short.

Also can anyone tell me if the medical and police check, I need for registration to work, can be used again for NZIS application, or will I even be asked for it, as I have already had checks for registration.

I know I have just submitted my EOI, but I like to plan in advance. Also can anyone recommend any good Primary Schools in the North Shore District, and are there plenty of jobs for my hubby who is an Electrician.

Cheers!! :icon_biggrin:

Hi,
EOI timings can be a bit unpredictable sometimes! People with job offers get priority processing, but there is still no real time scale. Some people get processed very quickly, others get left hanging around. You may find that July is ample time. If it starts looking likely you will miss your deadline, then you could always come on a work visa while they finish processing your application.

The police checks should be fine to use, but i'm not sure about the medicals. There are a few nurses on here who might be able to enlighten you on that front.

As for schools... cant help you on that one sorry! Someone will come to your aid, i'm sure :icon_biggrin:

Hi Lozza,

thanks for your reply. Thought I'd ask you a couple of questions if I could be so cheeky. Did you get an exact start date, and have you got registration? If so, was it easy? Also, could I be really nosey and ask what sort of salary you were offered. Beginning to think I might not have been offered a lot.

Cheers

Default Have a Job but not much time!!

Hi again Midder

Right firstly my job as ED nurse in Christchurch has been offered with no ties or demands they have simp :icon_razz: ly said to get there when i can which is great. :icon_razz: Yes i have registered with New Zealand Nursing Council WHAT A BLOODY NIGHTMARE there are plenty of posts from me whinging about that one. basically they took my money very speedily but did little else and it didnt get any better by calling in when i was in Wellington as they dont reply to emails that you send. They for some reason decided to hold my mail until they had an address for me in New Zealand which i never ever asked them to do hence it took ages to actually get my certificate although i'd been approved on 30th Nov. Anyway receieved my ITA today but once that is sent back and approved i have three months to get out to Christchurch and take up job so even tho employers not giving me date immigration will. As for salary its pants im dropping thousands. ive been offered over 19 dollars an hour and bear in mind the pay rise will be effective at some point. Hope this helps

Lozza,
I thought it must be about 12 weeks since I sent all my docs to the NCNZ or whatever it's called. So I had a look, and I'd sent them on 16th Oct. Decided to contact Royal Mail who told me they were delivered on 21st Oct. GOOD. But :icon_rolleyes: no money has gone out of my credit card. I've emailed but no reply of course. I was going to call in- but we're not going at the moment, so i wonder if they're waiting for a New Zealand address for me too?
My friend received a letter from them when one of her docs was incorrect so I assume mine were ok????

What shall I do? Phone them?

Of course we're in no rush now, but the thought of getting all the stuff again is frustrating.

Thanks, Ellie

Hiya

I would definately ring them they are useless. I too had a letter saying that my reference wasnt signed and dated so got it done again and sent back. Heard nothing so phoned them to be told they hadnt received my references from work. Went mad told them they should have let me know got references resent. Phoned again just before going to NZ on hols everything ok i was told. Arrived at NC in wellington told them i was concerned about length of time application taking they got out my file and all over it was HOLD MAIL i was fuming. Told them to send to Uk address they promised they would told NC ould look at applicationon Nov 30th. Back home from hols still nothing phoned NC told everything on Hold for new address???????????? went mad again finally got certificate. Have just sent off for practising certificate but even that was sent to me and my address on the form said HOLD MAIL. They are absolutely bloody useless so get onto it now would be my advice and good luck to you

SUPER!!!!!

Mind you, not got much to do at the moment. Looking for a job here in the uk cause I've just finished Return to Practice. So I can spend my time chasing Nursing council of New Zealand.

Hey-how annoying is this! I don't know if you've seen my other post, but our reccie is cancelled coz my mum is ill. So I need a car. Went to look at a corsa today and the bloke said "there's a history to this car". Ooooh- exciting?? Yeah- apparently the owners, 2 nurses, have just emigrated to New Zealand! Pog!

AND-Tescos emailed me to tell me they have got 25% off New Zealand wine! It's a conspiracy. :icon_frown:

Hey Midder, just a thought, you said earlier that your hubby is a sparky same as me. Is he aware that he needs to be registered and have a practicing licence to be an electrician in NZ. If not check out www.ewrb.govt.nz for details. As far as jobs go I got an offer pretty easy so I think there's plenty of work in the Auckland area. Good luck. Stan.
