Question for Primary Teachers...

My partner is about to start a graduate deploma of Teaching (Primary) here in NZ. If we return to the UK would she still have to do a PGCE? Who can we contact to ask this in England?

I've been working in primary schools here in the UK and have met plenty of Kiwi and Aussie teachers, so my first guess is that your partner would be fine to teach on the back of a NZ diploma..

ps. It's a shame she can't train in the UK - she'd get a ?6000 bursary for doing the PGCE, more if she trained in school!

Try www.teach.gov.uk - the website for the Teacher Training Agency. I think you'll find info about PGCE and links to the school-based options.

Applications can be submitted on line and you can check which providers have vacancies. Primary Training tends to be quite popular so your partner might have left it too late to enroll for September 2005, but it's worth a look.
