Default Timescales to process ITA

Hi

We submitted an expression of interest the week before Christmas and were selected on the 24th December. Last week we found out from the NZ Gov website that we were successful and have been invited to apply. A couple of questions, if anyone can help: a) how long does it usually take to receive the ITA from hearing on the website, b) how long does it take to receive the results of the medical etc, c) once we have submitted the ITA how long does it usually take to process it and be informed of the outcome? and d) does the ITA require submission of your passport?

I have a job starting date of the 28th March in NZ, which isn't the main problem - that is that we are getting married at the beginning of February and honeymooning in Mexico for a few weeks and therefore need our passports and will be out of the country. We have all our police checks, certificates/qualifications, and also have an appointment with the hospital for the x-rays etc set for the 21st of Jan. Does anyone have an idea if we are likely to be able to submit the ITA within the timeframe and hear before I am due to start work.

Any advice would be very welcome,
thanks, Bluebone :icon_rolleyes:

Default Timescales to process ITA

Hi,
For timing, you can look at my EOI timings page:
http://www.angelfire.com/hi5/neuraln...oitimings.html

Medicals take about a week I think. It's the time for the blood tests.
I think you can get it faster if you are prepared to pay more.

Again, for processing time, see my table. It seems to be very quick.

I think you have a choice with the passport. If you send it, it'll be quicker, otherwise they have to ask for it......in order to stamp it.

Blimey, that's a question !
My GUESS would be that if you submit your ITA after your medicals, and then go on holiday, you'll come back to a request for your passports. You can always go in person and get the stamps. I think that's quite possibe !

A slight complication. Your new wife will want a new passport at some point I guess, with her new name. (I'm assuming you're male !!!!).
If not, you will !
I think you can travel on your old name, and can keep using it - but that's a guess !

I hope that helps, and is fairly correct.
Cheers
Steve

PS Good luck with the marriage and the emigrating :icon_cool:

Dear Steve

Many thanks for the reply and for the kind wishes - I have now checked your timings table and see it can be very rapid.

After posting the question yesterday I arrived home to find the ITA pack. We have been assigned an officer and I thought about contacting him regarding the issue of passports and also whether we would be better waiting until we get the marriage certificate so we don't then have to prove our de facto relationship!

As for passports, I am female and will be keeping my maiden name as I am a doctor and this name is known by my research peers.

Thanks again, fingers crossed we will sort out the timings!

Dear Lozza

I submitted the EoI just before Christmas and was selected on 24th Dec, the 'decision successful' came last week, which surprised us both as we were anticipating a much longer timeframe. Ours was also sent to Dunedin for verification. The only thing I can think of as to why ours was processed so quickly, is that my job offer is with a government associated organisation and they are keen for me to start ASAP.

Sorry not be more help, good luck with verification and I hope you hear soon.
Ali
