Default EOI quandaries !?!

We want to be in NZ with PR in around July/August next year.

We have 135 points at the mo without a job offer.
We are wondering if we submit out EOI now, how long would we have before we need to sumbit the application for PR (is this called an ITA?)

We cant find any info to say if there is a time limit on this.

Also, if we submit the EOI without a job offer, can we submit the ITA with one?

Hope I havent confused you too much :icon_confused:

Hi,
Submit the EOI now !
When you eventually get an ITA, submit your ITA as soon as possible.
Get the police checks done a month of so before you expect the ITA.
Get the medicals done as soon after getting the ITA as you can.
A few days/weeks later you'll get an interview, and a few days later PR (or a work visa !).
That's valid for 12 months. ie you must enter NZ within 12 months of the stamp in the passport.

You have to submit the ITA within 4 months of getting it.

Police checks valid for 6 months
Medicals for 3 months (and more expensive)

If you get a job offer while an EOI is submitted, ring them and they'll expedite your application.

Look at this for the timing of people so far:

How's that !

Cheers for that Steve! :icon_biggrin:

Good to know that theres 4 months before you need to submit the ITA.
We wouldnt want the passport expiring before we have time to get there :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

With 4 months, we can pace ourselves and get it done at the right time, as well as getting in there with the low point requirement!

Cheers for that :icon_biggrin:

Hello. I am currently getting 115 points on my EOI but haven't submitted yet. I'm still waiting for the job offer from Newjobz . Would it be wise if I submit my EOI now and just inform the NZ immigration later when I get the job offer? Please, anyone help.

Hi Joey,
OK, I've got to make the assumption that you haven't got any unusual circumstances, and have a normal situation.
If so, then I'd submit now. Without a job offer you'll be selected at the next selection. Then, you'll probably have quite a long wait before your status changes to 'Decision Successful' and you get an ITA pack.
Now, if during that time, or at any stage before you actually get PR, you can just inform NZIS that you've got a job offer. They will then process your application ahead of everyone without a job offer.
I can't see any downsides to submitting your EOI straight away.
As always - just my opinion.
Cheers
Steve

thanks, Steve. So, I'll be submitting my EOI then. By the way, what do you mean by "unusual circumstances"?

Hi,
Well, I don't have any information about your situation. So, I always feel it's a bit dangerous to offer advice.
Just letting myself off the hook if I've said something stupid :icon_wink:

By the way. Something that many may not appreciate.
If you get PR without a job offer, there should be no conditions attached other than the requirement to enter NZ within 12 months.
If PR is based upon a job offer, you will have to complete 3 months in the job in order to finalise your PR.
So, strangely in some ways, it's more flexible to get PR without a job offer. But it takes longer, and there is no guarantee that you won't get a work visa instead. Although so far no one has.

Let us know how you get on.
Steve
