NVQ 3 Qualifications

Does anyone know if the NVQ system is recognised in NZ?

My wife has an NVQ 3 in Childcare and Education and is concerned whether this can be used when looking for employment when we come over next year.

NVQ is recognised in NZ, but only as far as immigration. You'll probably find employers will accept that she has this qualification, but will not utilise it in its NVQ form.

I expect it will boil down to what job your wife takes on. If it is dependant on being qualified, then she might have difficulties.

It might be worth contacting the NZQA to see whether they can give her some kind of translated qualification, or whether she will need to retrain.

Looked at the NZQA, and they will translate the qualification for the tidy sum of $460 (?160). How they justify this who knows?

Luckily we do not have to use the qualification as far as immigration is concerned, just in relation to gaining employment once we've made the move.
