Lozza, do you recommend I send my cv to the health boards before we go? Are they offering you a job with an indefinite start date?
How long did it take to get registered in NZ and any tips on how to find out the progress? I've emailed them but no reply.
ED manager?? :icon_confused: Am I being dense??

Right as far as sending cv to nursing health boards yes it certainly doesnt hurt thats what i did. New Zealand Nursing council however is a NIGHTMARE. I applied in July and was expecting it to be about 12 weeks after fouteen i got fed up and emailed them to find out how application was doing. Five emails later still no word so i phoned them to be told they hadnt received my references. Was very cross cos they were quick enough to take my money but not inform me that things had come to a stand still. Anyway recent references and again no reply so whilst in Wellington went to see them in person to be told that they were waiting for me to let them know my new address before sending documents????? i never said we were moving so basically again my application was on hold. Told them i never said i was moving and they apologised and told me application had been approved. So my advice is send it and keep bugging them. I am still waiting as application had to be approved officially by the council on 30th novemeber so if i dont here anything by Decemeber 10th i will be bugging them by phone again. Emailing is no good they never reply. Good luck!!!!
Lozza

i had no problems with registration it all came through within the stated time scale , but my friend who applied at same time still isnt registered and is having problems due to her transcript of training, but be quick if you are going to register from what i can gather they are changing the goal posts and in the future you many have to sit a competency exam , i emailed my cv to the hospitals i wanted to work in and had a couple of interviews one formal and one very informal and i even told them about my friend and they took her on too..... but dont be suprised that you lose your grading .. all nurses have to go in as competent and you can apply to reasses after a set period , mine is 3 months but leighanns is not til sept next year all depends on your experience, wages on paper look terrible especially compared to what we earn here but i have been told that what i will earn is a good wage.. contracts are much the same as you would expect here and prep requirements are slightly more than we have but on the plus side registration is a damm slight less than in uk .. all in all i am happy with what i have got and the staff seem to have bent over backwards to accomodate me hey the ward manager even gave me his home number to call if i wanted to chat .. good luck when you go down..my husband and daughter have left and are in singapore as we speak so they will be in auckland soon if anyone wants to get in touch or know more love lainyxx
