HELP!!!!

We are sending in our ITA next week. Got the medicals, police checks etc etc

Hubby is a welder, with a job offer in NZ which is open till end of FEB
(pleeeeease some one buy our house soon)

Just come across something we are unsure of.. the NZ Immigration office has asked for "evidence of your completed apprenticeship that has been registered with a recognised industry body"

Does anyone know what this is. Hubby has city and guilds obviously and has worked for the last 21 years as a welder.

Sent an email to NZIS but thought you guys may know the answer.

Many thanks and good luck to everyone else

Hi,
I'm assuming your husband did his C&G before he started work? I think that's all they will want from him is his C&G certificate. If, however, he completed an apprenticeship while studying, then his study record will be required. This would come in the form of an employers/tutors record of the stages of acheivement obtained during the apprenticeship.

If he didnt do an apprenticeship, then you should contact NZIS on the phone and get an immediate answer. Its not worth taking risks on speculative information when it comes to your ITA!!

Default NZIS nit picking

Thanks for that Taffy. We have contacted NZIS they have told us that without this exra bit of info they wont count his City and Guilds. The silly thing is that he is currently a part time tutor TEACHING apprentice welders, so to start to question his qualifications is ridiculous.
The reason he doesnt have what they want is that whilst studying for his city and guilds he worked for different employers and towards the end of his course he wasnt with any employer.

Luckily he has a job offer, so even without the qualifications he will still have 105 points. I am going to fight this out with immigration though, because others may not be so lucky. This particular rule needs to be examined more carefully in my opinion.

I cant see why it matters whether he was employed or not. City & Guilds is an academic qualification, which can be awarded with or without an apprenticeship. I dont blame you for fighting that one! Thats sheer stupidity on NZIS side of things. With or without the employer, its the same qualification, and its still registered with City & Guilds, whether they like it or not!
