Working holiday visa age limit

Hi

Does anyone know if you could apply for a WHV if you'd be travelling just before your 31st birthday? or can you only stay on one until you are 31? Just wondering as hubby would be elligable if you can (he's going out in March and will be 31 on April 7th).

To be honest, I dont think NZIS would even grant one if he is that close to his 31st birthday.

I would call NZIS on that one, just to make sure.

OK, just had my WH Visa back from NZ House.
Sent it on 13th November, had it back registered post on Friday 24th November.
I am 31 on 9th January 2005, and there was not a single problem.
The rule seems to be:
Apply anytime beofre your 31st Birthday - if I were you I would do it now.
The visa is valid for entry for a year after it was granted - ie mine is valid until 24/11/05.
When you enter NZ, then the year you are allowed starts. So if you get one now, enter on 31/03/05, you can stay until 31/03/06 on it.
I'm not out there until August, so I can stay until August 06 on it. My case was possibly nearer the wire and I had no probs, so it should be really easy for you.

Just thought I'd post an update - Sent off for hubby's WHV on Monday (I know this was cutting it a bit fine as it's only 4 weeks til his 31st birthday) and his passport came back today with the visa in it!

Just as Ady said he's got until 9th March next year to go and then he can stay for a year from then!

Hubby's going out in 6-8 weeks time, me and the kids are following on beginning of September.

For anyone else who may be interested, I believe the WHV is to be extended to 2 years from July 2005.

Don't want to put a spanner in the works and, of course, your situation may be sorted, but I noticed on the NZIS website that you can't take kids with you on a WHV. You may know this already and have other arrangements in hand, but just in case you, or others, don't know, here's the link:
