Hi everyone,

Just a word of warning - I know someone who is already in NZ and has their EOI in progress at the moment. They had 105 points I think without job offers, and have come over here and managed to land a job. They spoke to NZIS to say that they now hoave a job, more points and that the application should go through quicker now. However, they said that it wouldn't make a difference!

They were told that it's not an issue because they have work visas (so he could start the job straight away) and they have a year to get residency anyway.

So I suppose the moral of the story is, apply now and get your EOI in if you want to, but just be aware that you will need to get a work visa too if you need to start work quicker than the processing time of your EOI cos apparantly it doesn't make any difference! Great! :icon_confused:

Jod

PS - Although I was told by NZIS on the phone last week when I chased up our application AGAIN (165 points with job - selected 15th Sep! We're here working on work permits at the mo) that it wouldn't be pushed through quicker unless there was an emergency - don't know what they would consider an emergency tho - I told them Daz wanted to enrol on a course for next year and had to apply before the end of this year but couldn't apply unless he was a resident, and this wasn't enough. :icon_rolleyes: Good luck!

Hi Jodie,
Hope you're still loving it !

Just goes to show - there's no simple answer where NZIS are concerned.
I guess the faster processing only applies if you're still in the UK :icon_confused: :icon_rolleyes:

It's funny, you can read the statement on their website that actually says they'll prcoess it more quickly ! I'm sure I read that !
But when does that ever mean anything :icon_rolleyes:

Cheers
Steve

OK, I've found it - not quite what I thought:

[quote:f00db4b8b9="lanzilla"]Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie to this fab site and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction?

My Partner and I are in our late 30s and have 2 Children aged 10 and 13 yrs.

I have been running my own business for the last 16 years and can't decide whether to apply for a LTBV or try and get an offer of employment and go that route.

We are visiting for 3 weeks over Christmas and I am hoping to check out a few areas and test out the job market.

We have good equity and savings so we have no problem buying a property or supporting ourselves for as long as we need.

We want to settle in New Zealand and feel that we could have a very nice life there. We are not afraid of hard work and are sure that we would find employment quickly.

I haven't yet made any applications as I thought I would wait untill I had taken a look.

Are there any other late 30s on this forum who have taken their Families over on a LTBV and if so... what types of business did they go into?

Kind Regards.[/quote:f00db4b8b9]

Hi,

Got to be quick cause my battery is low...

Basically we have our LTBV and it took 2 & 1/2 months from lodgement to approval - by anyones reconning I would say that was pretty damned quick!

If you are still interested I would suggest you get in touch with Anthony at Pathways to New Zealand based in Hamilton.

Good luck in whatever you decide...

Thanks Cal.

I'd be interested to know how the procedure went for you and the line of business you ventured into.

I run a successful Business here but would probably need to diversify if I decide to take the LTBV option.

You can email me at lanzilla@ntlworld.com if you prefer.

Regards.
