Default hello all

Well I am glad to find this site because I know many of you have or are going through similar questions. Also I know others have done this so their is help.

My main question is this:

I am a NZ citizen, in the Philippines, who will be marrying a Filipino next week. Once married she will apply for a Visiting Visa to NZ, which as I understand will be granted for 9 months. She will apply for a visa under the basis of partnership but we do not meet one of the minimum requirements for recognition of Partnership which is ?living together for 12 months?. When she gets to NZ we will live together but if the visa is only for 9 months how can we meet these ?requirements?. Also I assume we cannot even apply for NZ Residency until we have been together for 12 months. She will be sponsored by me (NZIS 1025).

Anybody able to give me direction and advice?

B.

Hi Brycec,

Welcome to the site :icon_biggrin:

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage :057:

From what I understand and I think you do is that you will have to show that you have been together for a year, is it not possible for you to live in the Phillipines for a few months before you go to NZ? I guess you already thought of this, anyhow I wish you luck ::):

Hi brycec,
Can I ask how long you have been communicating with your fiancee? If you have any evidence that you have had some form of relationship for 12 months, that will be acceptable. As an example:

If you have been communicating with letters or emails, you can use these (provided that have dates on) as evidence. So, if you have been communicating for, say, 6 months, then she comes over to live with you for the nine months, 6 months in to her stay you will have had a relationship for 12 months. If you ran out of time, you could always go to the philipines for a short time or even Australia, until you get the OK.

As an alternative, you may be able to get a 2 year work permit for her. I believe you still need the 12 months partnership, but at least if you are already on or over that, it will give you an extra 2 years to get the residency sorted!

All the best

Default Thanks for info

Thanks Taffy for your information. We are looking into the work visa idea.

I did not realize that I could use my e-mails for proff of relationship. I thought the NZIS site was refering to "physicaly" living togther for 12 months. I have e-mails going back Feb this year all dated and put in order of date
