Default Moving to NZ on an Australian visa

Hi everyone.
Has anyone any information on moving to NZ on an Ozzy visa?
I recently got my ''permanent resident visa'' for australia but I'm now starting to get job opportunities in NZ. I have spoken to a couple of these potential employers and they say I can live and work in NZ on the strength of my Ozzy visa.
I have read on the NZIS website that this is true if I hold a ''residents returning visa'' but I can't find anywhere that says the same for a ''permanent residence visa''
Any help with this would be gratefully received.
Many thanks, Clarkey.

Hi clarkey,
Your permanent residence visa and a 'returning residents visa' are one in the same thing. When you have PR, you need to apply for a 'returning residents visa' so they will let you back in the country!

So, thats all it is... When you leave Oz, you will apply for a returning residents visa, which NZ immigration will accept and allow you to stay in NZ.

Hope that helps

Thanks for that Taffy. I still don't quite get it though. As you probably know, Australia won't issue a ''returning residents visa'' until the initial ''permanent residents visa'' has expired which is 5 years. As I don't want to wait that long , I need to enter NZ on my PRV. Do you think they will allow this? I fully understand that PRV and RRV equate to the same thing but on the NZIS operations manual (R 1.5a) it specifically says an RRV is required but no mention of PRV's.

So, do you think NZ immigration will look at my PRV and say ''oh yes, that's the same as an RRV, do come in sir?!

I know I'm splitting hairs here but I don't really want to send all my worldly goods to NZ only to be refused on a technicallity.

Thanks again,

Clarkey.
