Default ways and means NZ New Year

Hi everybody, I would like to add a wee bit about me to see what kinda replies and advice you may have. I am 33 years and single with both Irish and UK citizenship/passports. I am want to work and stay in NZ. In 1995 I lived in Sydney for 2 half years (legal) on a working holiday visa. Where I was unsuccessfull in my 'onshore' imigration application. I came home and graduated with HND Multimedia/IT. However unable to find relevant work experience except call centre jobs. I am now doing a 6 month Wall & Floor Tiling course. I have a full clean driving licence, no criminal record, but no job offer or family/friends in NZ.

Because of age i cannot get a NZ working hols visa. I have been advised that to goto NZ you can just get up and go with a 3month holiday visa and seek employment when you get there. Upon finding work, you then apply for a work permit and from that you can stay as long as you like and change jobs, same as the residents can. Is this so...

I understand unemployment is very low and the country is seeking people to work there. Is my HND useless without post Multimedia work experience. Which I cannot get in this country! I would consider any jobs or type of work in NZ be it Tiling, a job offer be fanstic If I can find one. Or even something to do with my own personal interest in fishing. I know NZ has some of the finest Trout/Salmon in the world and is a tourism industry.

cheers

I think i'd be looking into the work visa option if I were in your shoes, if you could secure a job in NZ, you could get your work experience whilst 'out there', it's not easy to get a job whilst in the UK but not impossible, otherwise you might consider going on a holiday visa, securing a job and converting to a work visa. Where there's a will there's a way :icon_wink:
Good luck and welcome to the site :icon_biggrin:

Hi,

I say the best optition would be to go out on a holiday visa and try to secure a job whilst your out there. If money is going to be a problem, I'd be paitent and try and save as much as you can before going out.

Have you contacted any recruitment agenceys to see what they say?
