Default interested in moving to NZ

Hi my names Amanda,
Me and my family are intersted in moving to NZ from the UK. My husband is a sales and marking manager and has no quaifications in this field although he has been in his job for ten years. Iam just finishing a early years care course (in child care). We would like to move to nz but are unsure of how to start and what to expect. Any advice would be welcome. Many thanks.

Hi Amanda,
Welcome to the forum! You will most likely find that with your husbands experience, you should have no problems moving to NZ, provided he can secure an offer of employment. Management experience is one of the desirable skills that NZ look for.

How you go about moving would depend a great deal on your personal circumstances. Without qualification, your hubby wont have enough points without a job, and finding a job without being here can prove to be very difficult.

On the other hand, you with your qualification may stand a better chance of being the principle applicant, but it depends on exactly what the qualification is, and whether or not it is acceptable to the immigration dept.

If you think you may be able to support yourselves financially for about 3-6 months, then coming on a holiday to find work is a good option (or if either of you is under 30, you could get a working holiday visa).

So, pick the bones out of that lot, and any questions you may have I'd be happy to answer (as will a few others on here!)

All the best

Hi Amanda,

My wife is a qualified Nursery Nurse (NNEB now know as CACHE) and has had her qualification pre-assessed by the NZQA (http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/) as a level 5 qualification this gave her 50 points as the primary applicant.

You will need to have your own qualification assessed by the NZQA.

Cheers,

Chris.

Default thanks :-)

Hello All,
Thanks for the advice. I've looked at loads of questions asked on this forum and I can see that the process of emirgrating will be long and hard so we shouldnt expect things to happen in a hurry. We are 33 and 35 so unfortunately we can not come on a work visa, so getting a job first is the best rounte. We are going to get all the information we need together first then set about finding a job, easier said than done no doubt, we will have to see what the markets like and go from there.
Thanks for your help.
