Things you wouldn't have thought to bring?

Hi all,

I read on another site/forum about the cost of paint in NZ being really expensive (not sure why this is :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif ) They were talking figures of $80 a tin! People were mentioning that they were going to bring some with them, even if they had to pay tax.

This got me thinking ....... are there any bods out there in NZ who wish they'd brought a certain item/product with them, because it's not available/too expensive in NZ? I've heard of people taking lots of extension cables with them so they don't need to change all the plugs on their electrical stuff.

A year's supply of chocolate perhaps????

I've heard lawnmowers cost an arm and a leg, many people buy a brand new one and send it out.

Hi Milliemoo,

I don't think you'll have a problem with the chocolate out here - it's all pretty much the same. They do have the Moro bar though - it's like a not-so-sickly Mars bar and I'm addicted! (They still have Mars Bars tho so if you're a fan, don;t worry!)

As for useful things I wish we'd brought, I'll have to get back to you on that one as we haven't had our stuff sent out yet. (And it's only about 5 or 6 small boxes of stuff anyway - we sold everything with a view to buying new once we were settled.)

I'll let you know if I think of anything though.

Right about the paint.
Good paint - I buy resene, is between $90 - $110 for 4 liters....


On another topic, a friends works at a computer shop and he says that he gets heaps of germans coming in wanting to buy laptops. Seems they are cheaper here than in Europe, probably owing to a lack of tax, only GST at 12.5%
