As long as they are not terminaly ill at the time!

And as that person spends so much money on alcohol a week, we would all be more than happy to help 'said party' cut down by being present in the pub when 'said money' is being spent :icon_wink:

LouLou,
Thanks.

J,
Me ? Over the top ? Surely not :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif :icon_biggrin:

You've heard of webcams I suppose !
Can we see :icon_biggrin:

Lisa,
Thanks. Can't be long - I hope !

Shulaa,
On a serious note, if your BMI is over 35, you'll get extra tests.
I've listed the whole gorry detail on my 'Misc Guides' page.

I've got a bit of a problem at this point.
I've read a long description of answers from an NZIS person.
They are quite interesting.
I can't really direct you to the source.
I can't really copy it.
Mmmmmm.....

OK:
The ITAs might be several weeks or even months !
The interviews might be by phone.
The ITAs will be considered in points order.
ie those coming in on 115 say will always jump ahead of those on 100.
After ITA clearance you could get:

a) Work to residence - 2 years to get to NZ, find job & become established. When you've worked for 3 months NZIS will upgrade you to PR.

b) PR

I hope that helps.

PS Expecting a couple from France to come and look at our house !

Cheers

Steve

Steve

I agree - I can't see NZIS inviting hundreds of us down to London for interviews in person. Probably issue mostly work permits and see if we can make a success of it when we get over there.

I must explain. It's not my view. I'm summarising what someone else said.
It's what someone said an NZIS person called Ann said to them when they asked about it. If you can follow that sentence !

Cheers

Does NZIS decide whether they give you A or B, or is that up to us? The whole reason I'm going for PR is that I want to know I can live there permanently before I move. Ugh. That'd be frustrating.

Hi J,
NZIS decide.
Look on my NZIS links page, on the operations manual section.
I've listed two links on the NZIS process for 'no jobs'.
But, please note, that once you've had a job for 3 months, which you need for PR anyway, they say you get bumped up to PR 'automatically'.
So, it's not much of an issue - I think !
Always remember - I'm human and get things wrong !
But that's what I think and have heard.

Okay. I just replied to this, but apparently the internet gremlins ate my reply. Grrrrr....

So you need to be employed for three months in NZ before they grant your PR? I thought that they *could* impose such restrictions, but that it wasn't standard. Is that wrong?

I was hoping to stay on with my current company if I can get an ITA/PR without a job offer. Is that not possible, then? 'Cause that'd sure be sweet to be making a US salary while living in NZ.

Sigh. The confusion/uncertainty never ends.... :icon_sad:

J,
I hate the NZIS website :icon_twisted: :icon_evil: :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

It's taken me a while, but I've finally found a reference to what I said.

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/Migra...uirements/#top

It says:

[quote:c5699cdbf3]If you?re already in New Zealand and have been working in skilled employment for less than three months?
you must remain in that employment - or in other skilled employment for which you would qualify for points or bonus points - for at least three months.[/quote:c5699cdbf3]

It's a bit unclear what the situation is if you get residency without a job offer, but I guess the 3 months still aplies.

I've just found this as well.

http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migra...ialassessment/

It says:

[quote:c5699cdbf3]Please note:
We won?t approve your application for residence as a skilled migrant if:

you don?t have an offer of, or you?re not already working in, ongoing skilled employment in New Zealand
or
you don?t hold:
a Doctorate or Masters degree that you gained after at least two year?s full time study in New Zealand
or
a qualification gained after at least two year?s full time study in New Zealand
in an area of identified future growth or absolute skill shortage.[/quote:c5699cdbf3]

Oh the tangled web they weave :icon_rolleyes: :icon_wink: (think about it !)

Steve, did I ever mention that I hate you? Can't I just remain naive and think things will go fine? :icon_lol:

I need to go read the sections you linked, but from the quotes, it looks like it enforces the notion that you NEED a job offer to get a PR. Fine, you may not need an offer to get processed, but to actually get the PR, you need to be working in "skilled employment" in NZ.

Thanks for taking the time to track that down. You shouldn't have to do all my legwork. I'm going to go read that wonderful document, now.

J
