Default Driving Licence :?

Just a quick note, though i know if i go for a trip to NZ then i am fine to drive though if i move out there is my driving Licence valid? I know it can sound daft though not all countries will allow UK Licence holders to drive on the road for over 1 year (spain), at the end of the year you must pass a local test :(

Thanks in advance..........

PS anyone know any good rental companies?

Hi,
Same for NZ, you can drive on your UK licence for up to 12 months, then you must pass a test.

If you have been driving for over 2 years, then you just have to take a theory test. If you have been driving for less than 2 years, you must take the theory and the practical driving tests.

Dont know what they are like, but you might want to try http://www.acerentalcars.co.nz or http://www.rentadent.co.nz

You might want to take a peek at http://www.ltsa.govt.nz

There is a heap of information on things like the 'Road Code', driving and quite a bit on safety!

does anyone know if you have only had your licence here for say a year and then after 12 months in NZ you take your practical and theory there, do you have the same restrictions (ie not driving on your own between 10pm and 5am) that new drivers over there have, or is that waived as you already have experience from here?

There doesnt seem to be a mention of this on the website for people moving to NZ.

I ask because I'll be working in hotels (hopefully if someone will give me a job!) and I'll probably have to drive home late some nights.
