Default POL - IT Catergories ??????

Hi J,

Your right about your 5 points for your qualification. I have editied my earlier post so it looks like this:

Right then........ To keep it simple IMHO the following is correct:

1) You can only claim points for 'Identified Future Grwoth Area' or 'Identified Cluster' IN ANY SECTION, if you are claiming points under the 'Skilled Emloyment' section.

2) You can only claim points for 'Skilled Employment' if you have a job offer in New Zealand or you currently work in NZ (min 12 months). You do not complete this section if the criteria above does not apply.

3) You can claim points for 'Absolute Skills Shortage' in the Work Experience section if:
a) your qualification is on the the POL
b) your work experience is relevent and completed post degree. You must have worked in the last 12 months and have at least 5 years experience.

4) You can claim points for 'Absolute Skills Shortage' in the Qualification section if your qualification is listed on the POL.

With reference to the POL, specifically IT:
1) you must have minimum degree in Computing Science which qualifies at level 7 on the recognised qualifications list.
2) the IT programming language as stated on the POL is 'desirable' not 'essential' (as confirmed by a nice lady at the NZIS) and is not asked about on the EOI.

I hope this is right, it is my interpritation of all the info that has been posted and what I've found out. It's also how we've completed the EOI, so if it's wrong, then I'm sure I'll have someone on the blower telling me so!

I've felt like for a while with this thread.

Well done Milliemoo, I think you've got a nice simple explanation there, which also looks right.

Did you notice my post about the possibility of 'electing for a work visa/permit', rather than going through the interview stage and possible residency ?

Has anyone heard of this ?
Know anything ?

Blimey it's HOT

Steve

I've just added a link to this thread, and in particular your summary on a new page on my website "MovetoNZ Chat Categories", in case others want to know about this.
Cheers

Hi Steve,

Haven't heard much about that option. I think we'd rather stick it out, but if it's true it could help a lot of people who have already sold their house or are still in the process of.

BTW how are the viewings going?

I think the work visa is good, as it allows people to have a concrete timeline. If you're planning on heading over "when you get your PR", that's quite variable. Like in my case, The date is kind of important, as I'm moving a dog over and there's only certain times of the year where you can do that (as he can't be in weather over 75 deg. F). So I've picked my "window", and either I have my PR or I don't. If I need to get a work visa first and my PR later, then that at least allows me to get over there and get a job on my timeline.

It will be interesting to see how things go. Since y'all have been selected, you'll have to let us know if you hear anything from them about this.

Hi,
One viewing so far - they were very impressed, but it 'may' not be the right sort of house for them. They are definately giving it serious consideration, because although it's not quite what they were looking for, they were VERY impressed.
Early days. Only advertised on Thursday !
Here's hoping.

Hot dog !
Not a good idea
Have you checked out the pet sites ?
I guess you have, you seem to be very knowledgeable on it.
I've got links to a few on "How to kill your pet by putting them on a plane" or something like that

Cheers

Steve, I'm not sure I want to read those linked pages. I'm not trying to kill my dog, and if I were, I'd do it BEFORE paying the ridiculous amount of money to bring him over.

I think I've gotten all the information I need about transporting him. Ultimately, I will be retaining the services of a pet transportation service that moves many pets from Los Angeles to Christchurch. I figure they know how everything needs to work, and will do their best to make sure the dog survives the travel.

Glad to hear things are looking up on the house.

J
