You had me really worried just then. looking at your web site for anything of interest and I read that for your medical forms that you must use a N.Z.elected doctor, I thought well we didnt ,we only used our own general practitioner,so I checked the form again and Im sure thats what it says. Please tell me Im right our stuff is all away and I dread them sending it back telling us weve done something wrong. Also for Police checks we werent asked to send anything with them to obtain one or do you mean sending passports and birth certificates with them to send on to N.Z house. Will you stop giving me these big frights the waiting to be approved is enough!!! :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

Hi nyrem,

It is true, the doctor that needs to perform your medical must have been elected by the NZ govt. There is a list of all approved doctors and radiologists available on the NZIS website.

You might want to check the list to see if your doctor in on there. I really dont know how NZIS will feel about your medical not being done by an approved practitioner. They may request new medicals, or they may just accept what they have.

Hi Nyrem,
First, my website is just information I've collected from elsewhere (NZIS, forums, other webiste), and which I intend to use.
So, I hope it's correct, but if it isn't , then I'm going to get caught out too :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif
:icon_cry:

I ask for corrections & suggestions so that those who look at it and spot mistakes can let me & others know.

OK, so that's me sliding any problems quickly off my shoulders :icon_biggrin:

Having said that I don't want to give anyone duff information.

I should also explain that I've not actually done much myself yet :icon_sad:
Although that will change soon ::):
So far we've got new passports for eveyone.
I've documented that for anyone else who will be doing it.
And, I've got a full birth certificate (not the short one which hasn't got mum&dad names on it).
I've documented that as well (by the way GRO is not the birth certificate number !!!) But I got it for ?7 by specifying the GRO using the birth certificate number :icon_biggrin:

Sorry, back to your questions.

If it's in New Zealand, then I believe it can be any registered doctor.
Outside NZ, they don't trust any 'quack' to do it :icon_biggrin:
There is a list of approved doctors on the NZIS site, as Taffy says.

The police checks system I'm still not clear on.
Someone in NZ said that copies of birth certificates was not acceptable.
I've obviously got info from someone who said that you needed photocopies of passports & births certificates. I assume that is only while you are still in the UK.
I think Stu also mentioned problems getting the right form.
I'd love to sort this out so that I can write the full info.
So you got the police certificate back.
What did you send. I'll put that on my website.
Can you add anything to what I've put ?

After all those excuses (if I've got something wrong), if I've made you realise that you've slipped up and can get on straight away to fix it, then I guess that's a good thing.

If that's the case, sorry for the bad news. Good luck fixing it.

Please, let us know how it turns out.

Cheers

Steve

Default Panel doctors

Thanks steve and Taffy for replying. I have a feeling you both might be right and Im worried now,Ill phone tomorrow and enquire. some of the forms seem so straight forward untill something is pointed out to you.I didnt even look at the list of panel doctors thinking that only countries with dodgy systems would be the ones needing to use elected docs not "good old U.K" with a good record for reliability. The police checks query -we sent the Scottish checks away with a cover note saying we would forward the national check as soon as we receive it.Will let you know how I get on as soon as I get to speak to a real person :icon_cry: :icon_cry:

Hi there

With regard to the Police form, I downloaded the SUBJECT ACCESS form from the Met Police website. I had to attach a list of all the places I've lived in for the last 10 years, to be included in the check. When the form came back the small print at the bottom said that it was not the equivalent of a Certificate of Good Character (which the NZ application asks for), but a phonecall to NZ House confirmed that it was acceptable.

A word on photocopies and originals. My application checklist I got with my Partnership forms (but no doubt universal) said that in the first instance CERTIFIED copies of important documents (passport photo page / birth & marriage certificates, etc) were acceptable. If they needed to see the originals they would contact me. It's the getting the forms certified that was expensive - ?5 a pop, so with a family it soon adds up. Also, they were quite specific about who could certify the forms - no doctors or other 'professional' people that you can usually use to witness stuff, so we erred on the side of caution and got a solicitor to do - probably why it cost so much.

Hope this helps, if in doubt, give NZ House a call - even the most simplest of question I'm sure they've heard a hundred times before. :icon_wink:

Default Panel doctors

I have just phoned N.Z house ( the cheap number worked a treat) ref the worry we had because we hadnt used a panel doctor.although we were pleased to see the radiologist did appear on the list. They reckoned it would be o.k.that they would just ring our doctor to confirm, but advized sending a covering note anyway.Ill still worry untill we hear from them but glad of everyones advise so that we could at least deal with it.Thanks again ,will keep you informed ::):
