Default Here's a thought.....

Hi,

Lets just say the EOI pass mark drops to 100 or 105 in the next couple of weeks ......

If we applied and were successful we'd have to make the move within 12 months. Would it be possible to enter country within that 12 months and then return to the UK for a couple of months before returning to settle in NZ ?

Ok, I'll explain myself... We plan to move in Spring 2006 but if we applied now we'd have to move within 12 months of being accepeted. Due to various commitments, this isn't convieniant BUT if we wait, the points may go sky high and we'd have to secure a job offer to get the points (don't really want to go out before securing a job, if it can be helped).

That said, I guess the whole process could take 3 months (perhaps longer???) to be 'accepted' and the 12 months would start from that date.

Sooooooooo If the pass mark does drop in the next couple of weeks, do you think:
- We should apply, and hope that we are accepted and the process takes a few months.
- We should apply and if we're accepted, visit NZ within that 12 month period, but return to the UK for a couple of months (I understand that you have 1 x returning Visa when your accepted) ....is this possible?
- Stick to the original plan and wait till next year to apply.

Thanks

Sorry, should have put this on the Immigartion board!

Just noticed a post from Taffy though, saying that it can take approx 6 months on average, so it might be worth getting the ball rolling now ???

Hi,
All good questions.

It could take one, two or more selections to get to 105/100.
Then it could take 2 months to be asked to apply.
I think they do most of the checks in that time.
Then you have 4 months to apply.
You need that for the police/health certificates.
Then they have to check that and stamp your passport with the visa.
Then, as you say, you have 12 months to get to NZ.

In your case, you 'could' be disappointed by it taking less time !

I would think, as long as you have a returning visa (MOST IMPORTTANT !!!), then you can leave for up to whatever they say.
With a work permit started when you enter NZ, lastnig say 2 years, then you'd have some time to get back.
Not sure how long.

Or am I talking b&^% s&^t ?!

Cheers

Steve

Thanks again Steve,

I think we might just go for it if the pass rate drops, because if we have 4 months to get all our forms together to apply, and then 12 months on top of that, we're sorted!

Of course this is all on the big assumption that they'll invite us to apply....eeek :icon_eek: icon_exclaim.gif

Ohhhhhhhhhh it's all getting very exciting. Frodo's doing his CV at the weekend, because he's been emailing an IT recruitment agency in Auckland. Hope they have some positive advise/info for us.
