Default nursing forms??!!??

I've been out of nursing now for nine years but have still kept up my qualification as i'm a paramedic. My husband is also a paramedic but we're finding it hard to get to NZ on his qualification, so i thought i'd try my nursing, but haven't got a clue where to start. I've seen someone else said about getting a verification form 5 and a transcript request form 6, but don't know what they are or how you get them!! Can anyone help??
Also, if i use my qualification to get out there, does this mean i have to be the one that works full time?? as we have a nine month old daughter that i don't want to leave!!

Default Nursing registration in New Zealand

try going on to the nursing council of new zealand website they r quite good and tell u exactly what u need.. and u can download the forms from them.. you need to get all the usual documents certified but go to a justice of the peace as its cheaper than a solictior and you need to get a training transcript and a verification form from the nmc , these cost ?34 (typical eh paying registration fees for what!!!!!) and as soon as you yhave got that u can get a job.. a lot of the health boards will help u with relocation which is something i am looking at just now. unfortumatly to comply with a work visa u need to work a minimum of 30hrs a week or more.. hope this helps lainyxx

Default Nursing registration in New Zealand

Hi Lainy,
Thanks for the info!! We've contacted a migration consultant (just for info) and she said that its easier to migrate to oz, then once there and visa is stamped get the next flight to NZ. Have you or anyone else out there heard anything like this?? We're a bit dubious as its easier (points wise) to get to OZ than NZ, so why isn't everyone doing it?????

Its not that east to get in to Oz, bit of a common mistake. The points system portrays an easier route, but its just as tough as NZ immigration, if not a little more complicated in some respects.

On the other hand though, if you can walk in to Oz, get residency, then you can just walk in to NZ from there.

I wouldnt recommend this method at all, as there are more than likely many pitfalls and ways to prevent this kind of thing happening.

Hiya lainy congrats on interview how the hell u manage that i been trying and getting no where! the only help i can be is make sure u aware of the treaty of waitangi cos they will ask u on that i know for sure as all nursing bodies r bound to this from what i can gather it was signed in 1841 by the maori chiefs and the government to ensure the distribution of settlers did not take away the maori rights and that they got given equal rights as british people who were to settle in new zealand. Good luck with interview and please please can u let me know how it goes as i am due a nursing interview when and if i get a job offer thks
by the way i downloaded a question and answer sheet on the treaty if ur interested it from http://aotearoa.wellington.net.nz/back/project.htm

:icon_biggrin: Good luck Iainy!!!!! Let us know what happens.
I'm starting the "Return to Nursing" course tomorrow, although I am registered, I think it will help with working towards a diploma and getting a job here in the uk. Plus I think I need a confidence boost before doing telephone interviews :icon_neutral:
Mortbags, a migration consultant suggested we apply to Oz and then go to NZ. Couldn't really understand it, but he guaranteed a visa- though probably in a "remote" region which may only be an hour outside Brisbane or something. It was going to cost over ?2000 I think.
Let us know how you get on.

good luck with your return to nursing course i have a few friends who have completed it and found it really useful.. anyway after a nightmare interview .. i have got a provisional job offer at the North Shore Hospital which isnt the hospital i wanted but hey beggars cant be choosers and job sounds good, the only thing concerning me is their grading system as no matter what you do they take u on as a basic grade and you have to apply for promotion so no matter what u do or where u work pay is basic, but anyway things are moving for me subject to referances and health checks lainyx
