Investment Opportunities

Hi

Does anyone know if it would be possible for me to gain residence if I were to buy a Bed & Breakfast type business. I have about 500,000 NZ Dollers to spend after I have paid for our hairy dog to come with us. I have good IT skills but not those that are on skills shortage list. I am also a single parent (34) of two kids (9 and 14). Any advice greatly appreciated.

Also my parent want to come too if we go....they are retired and have more money to bring than us. Would they be able to emmigrate first and we go on the back of them or vise versa.

Thanks for any advice - we are desparate for a new start..

Hi Bev,
If you wanted to buy a business, you would have to apply for a Long Term Business Visa. These have many points you have to match before you can qualify for one. Firstly, you need to have business management/ownership experience, a good sound business plan plus a bit of spare cash behind you to support yourselves for the term of the visa (on the assumption that your business will not make money)

Strict guidlines to follow, and generally not an easy route.

As for your parents retiring, they will need to contact the local immigration office as retirement is a bit of a case by case subject!
