Default Uk to NZ

Hi! I'm looking to move to nz with my family from birmingham,uk in sept 2006. I am a teacher and my husband is a police officer. I will be the applicant but don't think i can send an EOI until i have a job (not enough points without) however, jobs for term 1 2006 will only really surface this time next year. would this be leaving it too late???

Also, my husbands skills are not recognised on the list. I know he can only apply for nz police once he has residency but can anyone give me any clues as to types of policing jobs an immigrant would be allowed to do/ he could use his uk skills for?

I hope someone out there has the answers!!!!

Default Uk to NZ

Hi fisheress,
The school term runs from January to December in NZ, so you would have a few months before the new school year started.

Your husband would have no real problems finding police work as police officers are always in demand and the training that UK officers receive is quite desirable to the NZ force. You can find more police info here:

http://www.police.govt.nz

It wasn't all that long ago that the NZ police force were trying to attract UK officers, so he should be fine :)

All the best
