Hi guys!

Just a quick post to say that we're here! We arrived last Tuesday after the dreaded flight and LAX wasn't as bad as I'd been told - just a normal transit lounge really.

Darren's cousin picked us up from the airport and we've been staying with him in Mount Eden for the past week. They took us up to their bach in Whangarei (jus South of the Bay of Islands) which was beautiful, and one of his friends up there wants Darren's CV as they might have a job suitable for him at the local health board! FIngers crossed...

We're buying a car this week and then we'll drive round the North Island for a bit and see where we like the look of, and then start job-hunting.

The weather here is really nice seeing as it's the middle of winter - we were on teh beach on the weekend (with our trousers and coats on though!) but it was quite warm - about 14 degrees. I could get used to winters like this. Although it's true what they say about Kiwi homes not having central heating - an electric blanket and hot water bottle at night is essential at the moment!

Hey Jod-ski,

Well-done, you made it! I wouldn't mind spending a bit of time in a bach in Whangerei. Northland is v. nice.

It feels like winter here, so I am glad someone is getting some good weather...

Have fun driving around the north island, and keep warm! Also good luck with the job hunting and keep us up-to-date on your progress.

I'm really pleased you are enjoying your first days in NZ.

We are planning to move to Whangerei, it looks absolutely stunning on the net at least, what is the weather like in Whangerei at the moment, just wondered if it was cold as i hear Electric companies in NZ are expensive due to lack of competiton, so hoping Whangerei may be a bonus in that respect???

Sorry to throw questions at you so soon into your new life, it's just you don't see many on the net heading there so i guess i got a little excited :!:

Also thanks for the info on LAX we are hoping to travel out that way :)

Glad to see y'all arrived safe and sound!

We'll be joining you out there in very early October by the look of it. Sold the house in the first week it was on the market!

Going same route as you, WHV, just until a proper job is sorted out. Trying not to get too excited until contracts have been exchanged on the house as nothing is a guarantee until then!

I read your interview the other day and i have to say it sounds like you have had a real struggle, you deserve some luck, you are an amazing person who has helped so many and i'm really really pleased you sold your house so quick, good luck to you and yours and it really is brilliant that you are finally going to live your dreams :D :D
