Default can you give me some help?!

:D
hi, i am a 28 year old student teacher from liverpool england, wanting to come and teach in new zealand when i qualify with my family. i am specialising in ages 7-14 specialist subject being science. i will qualify in my 2006. are there many teaching jobs there? do i sound like i offer much? should i wait to gain some teaching experience beforehand?
i was thinking of somewhere other than auckland, maybe south island. is this a good decision?
any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
a big shout out to anyone who replies!!
peace and love, yellow

Hi Yellow,
I think pretty much any urban area of NZ needs teachers. I read not so long ago that high school teachers were in very high demand, so you would probably have a lot to offer!

It never hurts to have experience, it all depends on how long you are willing to wait before you move to NZ!

If you are looking at the South Island, your best bet would be somewhere like Christchurch, which is quite a big city (no where near Auckland proportions though!) so would probably offer good opportunities.

All the best

I remember reading an article in the online edition of the new zealand herald not so long ago that some education authorities in NZ were actively recruiting teachers from England as the shortage was reaching crisis point...

Default Teaching

If you look on the Gov. immigration web site secondary teachers are in demand. Another one is TeachNZ. It will give you an idea of demand. Good luck with the teaching!
