Default random question about holiday parks and RVs...

In New Zealand, is a "holiday park" that same thing as what we in the States would call an RV park?

And does anyone have any idea of what it might cost (just a rough estimate) to ship an RV/5th wheel to NZ from the states?

yes but they can be slightly different. Some may have hookups and some won't. Some may have cabins for rent and others places for a tent with common showers and baths.

You can get a firm quote on the cost for the move from people who move cars internationally as it would have to come by that type of ship and not a container ship. You can evaluate the cost of moving your rv vs what a container would be. Then if you can put everything in the RV and ship just the rv. You would kill two birds with one stone. Your 120V electrics would be an issue but you have a staff sparky to address that.

Hopefully the unit is paid for I am not sure, you may have some issues without a clear title moving it to another country. As I said contact an international car mover they will know all the details as it is what they do.

You are definitely going after this move with a vengeance.

Yes I am! I just want as much information as possible, as soon as possible. That way we have the best possible chance of moving there, and then hopefully a smooth transition into New Zealand life.

That being said... 'nother random question: Got any recommendations for some of the new home builders in NZ (specifically Christchurch area) that have good reputations among home buyers?

    thanks.

Whoa slow down a minute. Get to know the place before you want to start building. Your sparky partner will be in the building trade and he will find out real fast, who is who. Give it time.

Haha. no, no , no... I just want to look at their websites so we can get an idea of how much it costs to build new vs. buying an older home. Just want to see what floor plans are like, average prices, etc. Just for comparison and informational purposes. Lol Curiosity's sake only...

We plan on renting when we move there first. That way we can get to know the areas, and the New Zealand way of life, make some friends, etc... and get a good idea of where we'd like to settle.

I do tend to get a bit over excited. Lol. I'm a bit of a bookworm and like learning, so when I become interested in something I really go for it. I've looked into all sorts of things from NZ history and culture, to housing, to daily life, different cities, languages, peoples, economy, even down to little things like "veggie mite" and not saying "bless you" when someone sneezes there. haha.

To get more acclimated to the accent you can listen to NZ web radio.
