Default Sending money back to the UK

    Dear all
I am hopefully moving to New Zealand withen the next couple of months. But I still have a few financial comitments in the UK so will need to transfere money from New Zealand back to the UK on a regular basis. What is the best way to do this ? Do any of the New Zealand banks offer international money transfere as part of there internet banking so it could all be done on line ?

    Hi,

I wouldn't use a bank, it costs around $25 per transaction to send international payments via a bank and you'll get poor currency conversion rates as well. Try using a foreign exchange broker, like World First, as they often don't have fees and have much better exchange rates.

    Cool

Another option is to maintain one UK credit card if you can make payments using it. You will get charged a currency exchange fee if you use an NZ credit card for any NZ currency payments which is 3.5% but it adds up over time.

Also if you have a friend that has a paypal account you can pay them and they can pay your bills.
    Cheers

We send money home via kiwibank (who we bank with) we send 1 salary home each month. It costs us $20 a month to do this and we are happy with the exchange rate provided and how easy it is to do - i can do it online from home.

It takes 3-5 days to arrive in your UK account depending on when you send it (over a weekend etc)

    Cool

Kiwibank uses an intermediary bank who sits on the transfer for a few days to make off the float. I am with kiwibank too and know their process. With a Swift transfer you should be able to sends funds around the globe in hours.

Prepaid credit card. I have a Neteller card, which I can charge instantly using a mastercard or visadebit.
The second I deposit to my neteller account online, the card is charged with that amount and is available to use instantly.
I'm thinking you could do it this way, good for cash withdrawals in the UK (Ithink they cahrge 1.50 a time) but there may be a way of withdrawing from that pot electronically too, if not with this prepaid card but another at least.
Sounds more convoluted than it is. Pretty simple though.
