Hi all

I have been given a job offer by a company based in Wellington (I am in the UK). ME my wife and children are applying for work and student visas using an immigration service.

We have completed the medicals but I am concerned that the panel doctor has flagged up my Platelet count as being low and is putting together a letter to my doctor to investigate it further, I also have a higher BMI than required (37).

The platelet count is 127 (150 - 400 being the tolerance range). Having investigated this I do not and have never suffered from any symptoms of low platelet count (easy bruising, nose bleeds, bleeding gums etc). Im pretty sure that I don't have any of the problems which can manifest a low platelet count. in fact the only thing I can attribute it to is maybe a viral infection which I started to suffer from a couple of days after the blood tests where performed.

I'm really concerned that our requests for visa's will be denied based on my medical results. MY wife has handed her notice in at work and our house is up for sale. I don't want to have to perform a lot of running around for weeks dealing with immigration and submitting further test results as I've heard that once a medical assessor gets involved things can take weeks or months to complete. I cant expect my new employer to wait for too long before they are forced to revoke the job offer.

This is turning into a very stressful time and any help or information on how the work visa process works or how strict they are would be greatly appreciated.

kind regards
Ash

Hello,

I will be applying for a new work permit as my working holiday visa/permit expires in February 2011.

Hello,

I will be applying for a new work permit as my working holiday visa/permit expires in February 2011.

I will be going back to the UK for Christmas break and will return to NZ for work in January. As I have a multiple entry on the WHV, I can return to NZ before it expires.

If my work permit gets approve before I leave for the UK, would my WHV still be valid or will it be cancelled and I would have to apply for a new visa?

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Claire

Hi there,

Looking for some help.

I'm currently on a 8th Month work permit, it's my 3rd work permit that has been granted for contractual work. Each time my contract finishes I leave NZ, and re-apply for a new permit when my contract comes through.

This time I was offered a full time, long term contract - so I applied to get my permit extended to a 3 year permit. But Immigration have come back and told me they will not issue the permit due to my employer not making a "genuine effort" in employing a Kiwi - how can they not issue me a permit this time around due to this, but are willing to issue me a permit when the role is only of 6-8 months out of the year???

Also does anyone know if my current permit which is valid until April 11 will be revoked if my application with immigration at the moment is denied?

Thanks

I am an Indian female living in Mumbai,India and my fiance is English (UK) lives presently in London,UK. He would be making a separate application for Working Holiday Visa.I will be supported financially by him. That's it.

He isn't from NZ so no sponsoring and all that.
What would be the documents and forms to be necessary to be filled by both of us individually. Do we need to fill NZ 1146 or NZ 1025 ?

Do we need to apply on the basis of partnership? What is basis of partnership?

We haven't lived 12 months together in one roof.
We do not plan to stay more than nine months in NZ.
We are planning to get married out there.

Hi there,

I'll outline my problem that me and my fiance are currently facing, and I'm 99% sure I'm probably not the first person to have come across this situation either. Me and my fiance met 4 years ago on an internet 'dating' site and have been together ever since, I have visited her for 2 weeks in the U.S (where she currently resides) and she's also visited me here in NZ for 2 weeks also. We want to be together here in NZ and we seem to be getting tripped up at every turn. Neither of us want to break any immigration laws but it seems in our case it's just about impossible for us to be together in real life. Here is what we want to do.....I would like her to come here so we can get married and then live together, that's it....nothing more, nothing less....what is the best and LEGAL way to do this? The main stumbling block we seem to always hit is the 'genuine/stable relationship requirement' of 12 months. How can we achieve this? On a visitor's visa she can enter for a maximum of only 9 months and then has to return home, thus making us 3 months short of the 12 months (or only two months if you count the previous 4 weeks we've already spent together) so then I'd have to go there or she'd have to come back here for a further two months. Now at the moment her employment isn't very adequate and is only getting a few days here and there whereas mine is more stable, but even as stable as my work is, I HIGHLY doubt my employer would let me disappear to another country for 2-3 months, and even if my/our employers would let us do it, we'd never be able to afford it.......because that's one trip for her to come here for her initial 9 months, then another trip for either me or her for a further 2-3 months, and then finally her to come BACK so we can apply under the partnership programme. What can I do!? It's so damn infuriating :( I understand the need for immigration to be convinced that we really are a couple and I know that's because the 'residence through marriage' system has been so widely abused, but what honestly can we do? I've seen something mentioned about "Work permit under partnership" but even that has the requirement of being in a 'genuine, stable relationship' too and having lived together......How can we live together for the required time if we can't find a visa that will LET us do that!? I'm so stressed about this, I really am.....I've called NZ immigration three times, first time I called had my hopes pushed way up, then I had a couple of minor queries about the 'visitor visa' application form so called back and couldn't get through, and the third call I made shot down EVERYTHING that was said in the first call. There's also inconsistency on the NZ immigration website too, I just..............I don't know what to do and I'd really appreciate some help, neither of us want to break any laws but we DO want to be together using whatever way necessary.
