Default Police certificates validity for PR

    Hi ALL,

    Good Day !!!

One of the requirements for police certificates is that it should not be more than 6 months old when submitting EOI (and should not be more than 1 year old if application is still in consideration.

I plan to come to NZ on 24 months WP. I'll receive my ( & my spouse's) police certificate by 15th Jan 2009 and if everything goes well, I'll land in Wellington on 15 March 2009. Does this mean that I need to submit EOI before 15th July 2009 ?

    Thanks

I would tend to err on the side of caution and submit your EOI a little before that date because I'm not sure whether INZ goes by the date the police certificate was issued rather than when you actually received it.

Our police certificates were dated when we requested the certificate rather than when we actually received it so I imagine that will likely be the same for you so by the time you receive it you may not have a full 6 months left.

Dear Motherbear and Ebianca, thanks again.. Motherbear you are truly a 'missing link'

It's very surprising. I'm coming to NZ within 2 months of date printed on the police certificates (i.e. date on which certificates are issued). Still I need to make sure that police certificate issued by Indian govt. is not more than 6 months old at the time of submission of EOI ?

We got our police certificates about 1 month before we left the UK for NZ. By the time we came to submit our ITA our 6 months were up but we still needed to apply for new ones from the UK despite not having been there since we got the previous ones. Seems daft I know, they don't make things easy for us at all.

It will be when you submit your ITA so you will also need to allow time for your EOI to be selected and approved and for you to gather all the apppropriate information for your ITA.
