    Smile Pre/Full NZQA Assessment

    Hi everyone :)

I qualify to apply for EOI (over 120 points without claiming education points as i have a job secured with an nz employer) Please tell me if I need to do NZQA pre-assessment. Would it be wise to skip the pre-assessment and just apply straightaway for a full assessments in my situation?

    Thanks all!

I personally skipped the pre-assessment and just as well, as had to get a full assessment done at ITA stage ...

ruddy waste of money though ... the slip of paper back from NZQA simply stated the title of my degree .. not bad for $600 eh? Think I might have a change of career :hmm:

Thanks zummerset.. the only side effect that is now coming to my mind is that I wont be able to file my EOI until I getting my full nzqa assessment which usually takes a bit longer than pre-assessment...
    what say..

Hmmm .. let's start again ... my degree was from a University already acredited by the NZQA, and as such, I didn't have to get a pre-assessment done.

    Is yours from another establishment?

I have decided to go ahead and get the full assessment. It seems as if you need to do that either way for immigration purposes.

If you have it pre-assessed, then you will have a number for NZQA.

I didn't, and it was OK to leave that field blank on the EOI - they may ask you to get an assessment as part of the ITA (not sure now, as they changed the rules just after we submitted out ITA).

    HTH,

    Lou

Yes - I got a job within a few days of arriving the NZ.

As for getting one - I just trawled trademe, and seek and sent off CVs left, right and centre.

As it happened, someone on another forum sent me a message to say that this company were recruiting software engineers, and very kindly put me in touch directly with the HR personnel - and the rest, as they say, is history!

Word of warning - unless you have a date of arrival AND a valid visa, employers are very wary, and you are unlikely to get a job offer. Some people do, but my experience was that unless I was in the country WITH PR, there was no offers, and the few interviews I had the offers went to candidates ready to start there and then!
