Default EOI/Work Permit to residency - which one?

    Hi All

I can meet the EOI only if I have a job offer (I also have a partner who does not have a basic qualification, although this did not seem to matter with the job offer points).

I have also been talking to a health care agency (I am a dietitian - which is on the LTSL), but they suggested I go for a work to residency permit, as it only takes 4 days to process if I get a job offer with them?

What are the drawbacks....could it be the agency is thinking about commission from placing me in a job. Is there any reason to do this; or I should I complete an EOI on my own?

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.

(As yet I need to get my qualifications validated by the dietetic board which takes 3- 4 months)

    Prahatoo and welcome.

I guess it depends on how quickly you want to get to NZ and start work. The WTR visa is a quicker way to get there, which a lot of people use when they are in a hurry or haven't got enough points at the moment to submit an EOI. It means they can get on with their new life in NZ while they wait for the right opportunity to put in their EOI. No doubt the agency will get something for their endeavours if they place you in a job. After all, that's probably how they make their living. If you need a job and can't find one by yourself, then using an agency could work for you.

Aha - that makes sense. I would need a job offer anyway for points and the WTR is quicker as you say - thanks very mcuh
