Exclamation Faults - check points for NZ work experience

Expressions of Interest and points for New Zealand work experience
Tuesday, October 09, 2007

As a result of changes made to Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) policy on 30 July 2007, people expressing interest under the SMC are now entitled to claim five bonus points for one year of recognised work experience in New Zealand, 10 bonus points for two years, and 15 bonus points for three years.

Changes were made to the Expression of Interest (EOI) system to support this change in policy. However, a fault has been identified in this system whereby people who have selected:

1 but less than 2 years recognised work experience in New Zealand under question G2; and

None of the Above for question G3,

have not been awarded their five bonus point entitlement for the one year of New Zealand work experience claimed under question G2.

Changes will be made to the EOI system on 12 October 2007 to ensure, where one year of recognised work experience in New Zealand is claimed under question G2, five points are awarded.

Following this change those EOIs currently in the pool that include a claim of points for one year of recognised work experience in New Zealand under question G2, will be automatically updated to ensure the five points are correctly awarded. Those EOI not yet submitted to the pool will be automatically updated at the time they are next edited or submitted (following this change).

Please wait until 13 October 2007 to review your points following this system change.

Please also note: question G3 is the total number of years of recognised work experience. If you are making a claim for 2 or more years work experience in G2, G4, or G5, this experience should also be claimed in G3. The details of this experience must be included in question G1.
