Default NZQA Pre Assessment

Friends,

I would like to share my experience with NZQA for my Pre Assessment,

I submitted the Pre-Assessment Application on 20/Sep/2007 and I got the result on 11/Oct/2007,

The Pre-assessment Result is: Level 7.

I think when they have all the information about the Educational Qualifications, then the result will be in 20 days, (I am not sure for others how many days it will take).

Now, I am planning to apply for EOI,

Thanks,

Ricky.

Default A Question

Hi

I have a question, and the immigration website is not too clear.

I have a national diploma in electrical engineerting from a recognised technikon in South Africa, and without going through the entire process with NZQA, wouls anyone be able to tell me if this is a recognised basic qualification? and, how many points I could earn on the points calculator?

Any help with this matter would be great

If you look down the list of recognised qualifications for SA perhaps you'll find your tecknikon there and it also tells you how many points you would be likely to get for it. I hope that's what you're looking for.

And to the forum, too.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply, it is really fantastic.

I have had a look, and it says the following:

"A Master's Diploma in Technology awarded by a Technikon listed below is assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

A Laureatus in Technology awarded by a Technikon listed below is assessed as occupying Level 7 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points."

Does this mean that a national diploma (3 years) is excluded as a recognised qualification, or does it just earn less points (or any at all)?

I want to emigrate with my wife as a principal applicant, and I have a scarce skill, but I'm not sure about the qualification.

My brother and his wife are also going, and they are teachers, so they qualify easily. Without a job offer, and no recognised qualification, we sit at 95 points.

What should I do?

In appendix 5 it says...

The qualifications in this list do not require assessment by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Qualifications will qualify for points on the basis of their assessed position on the Register (see SM14.15 of the Skilled Migrant Category).

...then if you click on the SM14.5 link it brings up a little table showing how many points you get for the various types of qualification. It doesn't, however, separate the different types of diploma.

I can only assume that, if your diploma type isn't shown on the register, you may have to have it assessed by the NZQA but have a dig around the other links to see if you can find anything more definite first.

That's exactly what I needed to see

Thank you so much. I'll just have it assessed and they can say if it's ok. Will a Pre-Assessment be enough for that?

If I read this correctly, I believe so.

"This can ONLY be used for IMMIGRATION - for the purpose of an 'Expression of Interest' under NZIS's Skilled Migrant Category".
