Default Hello... and Help!

Hi I've been reading the forum for quite a while now getting loads of info while making the descision to move, thanks for all the info and links

We feel we have weighed up all the pros and cons (not many of them!) and are now ready to go ahead with the application process.

Just one quick question - we would be applying as a skilled migrant but only get 120 points without a job offer and it is unlikely we would get a job offer at such an early stage of our application..... we are planning on going to the Manchester expo in October, would it be worth waiting until then before we submit out EOI or is there another way?

Thanks :)

I think it depends on your work experience and the points you've claimed for it. Are you in an area of absolute skill shortage? If so, and you have 10 or 15 points for work experience, then I think you should go ahead. That's based on what I've read here: Expression of Interest fortnightly selection

The other thing to consider is your timeline. As you've read here in the forums, the EOI to Visa process seems to take about 12 months (give or take) for most people. The extra few months may or may not make a big difference to you.

Either way, good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Kiwihopeful, we would be applying in an area of absolute skills shortage so that's good news! I'm just really eager to get the process started as you say it can take some time to complete.
