Default How many points do you get for living in NZ?
Does anyone know how many points or if you do get points for living in NZ for more than one year?

I could only find the points allocator for Skilled Jobs and Ages not length of stay in NZ.
About the points

We were going to submit our EOI tonight but when we read through things it asks you what countries you've lived in for longer than 12 months and we wondered if we would get more points if we waited till mid-Aug to submit our EOI when we'll have been in NZ for longer than 12 months.

We're about 10points short of getting 140 for auto ITA and just want to see if we'll get extra for living in NZ for 12 months???

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You get extra points if you have been in a job for longer than 12 months, but not just for being in NZ. I think it's 50 points for being in a skilled job, and an extra 10 if you've been in it for more than 12 months.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear!

Yes, as Taffy says, you only get points for working in NZ, not just for living there.

A person can qualify for points if they have an offer of skilled employment, or are currently employed in New Zealand in work that we consider skilled employment. Work experience, recognised qualifications, close family in New Zealand and age are also factors in the number of points that an applicant can claim.

Applicants can also qualify for bonus points for employment in specific industry areas, employment outside Auckland and qualifications gained in New Zealand.

However, you can get points for NZ work experience, but there again, I guess it depends what field it's in and the big whammy, it has to be 2 years and over to qualify. If you look at the link you just posted and click on the 'points' bit, you can see on that table where it talks about Work Experience.

Sorry Amy. Of course, that's not to say you can't still get in with flying colours. As long as you have over 100, you'll be right.

Oh well we'll just submit it and see what happens. Thankfully we get about 130 it's just those 10 points that we're short on would have qualified us for auto ITA

Ah well we'll see what happens. Will try and submit it all tonight. Have to watch how much I'm online at work these days....
