Default should I start the EOI process?

Hello all,
I'm just starting to look at IT positions to apply for and I am one the people who under the new EOI point system need a job offer first. I was wondering if they're is anything I can do in the meantime to get the process moving? I would imagine that I should not fill out the EOI until I get an offer cause' wouldn't it be a waste of money, or am I thinking incorrectly?

-thanks,
Brian Davis

You can fill out the EOI on line anytime that you wish, but just don't try and submit it till you know you have enough points. I don't think it will let you submit it on line without the required number of points anyway.

My understanding is that if you have more than 100 points you can submit the EOI although it will not guarantee selection since the policy has changed. A job offer will surely get you selected (equal or more than 140 points) and invited for application.

Thanks for the replies.
I ended up calling NZIS twice to make sure what I heard was correct. They said that if you have above 100 and below 140 you can still be selected from the pool for wtr. They also said that if you receive a job offer after you submit your EOI, you can update NZIS with the job info then you'll be auto selected. So my plan is to fill out the EOI soon and hope to get wtr, during which time I will be searching for a job, in which case if I get a job, I'll get residency.

-Brian
