Default Anyone give me ur views here please??

Right, my family are applying to live in nz, me and my partner and my 4 month yr old will want to join them in 1-2 years!
My partner has a BTEC in mechanical something or other so that scores 50 points it says, am i right? he went to college for 2 years. He has also worked with cars alot and has had jobs doing it.
If my family gain residency then i will get points for them living there, we are both under 30 too! i dont work but speak english and all that, i dont have a recognised qualification though like my partner.

Does this sound any good? do u think we need to do anything else?
Also if a job offer would help us how do we go about it?

Thanks alot!!

How many points do you score on the test. Is the BTEC you're partner has listed in the 'recognised qualification list' otherwise, whilst it probably will score points you might need to get it confirmed/assessed by the NZQA (NZ Qualifications Authority).

If you score less than 135 points then a job offer would help greatly but with car mechanics being on the Skill Shortages list you may well score enough points (over 135) to get automatically selected.

In conclusion I'd say, YES you're in good shape, better than many of us embraking on the move. Sound good? Bit more concise than my last reply hehe :icon_lol: Keep us posted to how you get on.

thanks, i think we score about 120, its over 100 anyway but less that 140. If my partners dad works there he will help me find work! as it seems impossible from the uk to find work over there!
I think it is in the recognised qualification list, i didnt know it was a skill that they are short of, thats good hey!

Hmmm I'm surprised you don't score more points with a RBQ (recog basic qual) and a skill on the skill shortage list and being fairly young and having family in NZ. Is that 120 figure including all those factor on the points indicator on the NZIS website?

I checked and it seems to be about 120-130, mabie im doing it wrong! can i include having family there if they have only just arrived? do they have to have been living there for a certain amount of time?

How do people get a job in NZ before they have actually been allowed into the country??

Basically, by having a skill that NZ desperately needs. It is often much easier to get a job offer once you?re in NZ, as potential employers take you more seriously because of being in the country already but, if you have a sought after skill, it is quite possible to be offered a job whilst you?re still in your home country.

you can check the long term skill shortages in NZIS website to see if the skill your partner have is on the list.

Best of luck!
